Kung Hei Fat Choy!' happy new year

Chinese New Year ends on 31th January 2014
It last for is 15 days.
This year is the year of the horse 4712

I was born in the Year of a Dog this means:  Faithful, honest and ready to serve others. Believe in truth and justice and loyal to friends. Always willing to listen to people’s problems and is able to gain the respect of others. Will share their thoughts but do not easily forgive those who cross them. Trustworthy. Tend to worry too much.

On New Year's Day it's tradition to give sweets or money in a red envelopes.

The colour red  is believed to be lucky

Today's lesson

Today's lesson was useful, because I learnt about   Burns night. I also learnt where Scotland and Wales are.

.

Burns night

Burns night celebrates the poet Robert Burns. It is usually celebrated on his birthday 25 January.

Haggis is eaten on burn night . A piper plays the bagpipes and walks in front of the cook carrying the haggis.

Before they eat  the haggis someone  reads out Burns poem Address to a haggis.

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy o' a grace
As lang's my arm.

16th january lesson

I enjoyed putting the flower pictures on to my blog. I found saving my pictures hard.

flower making

I looked at  You Tube video on how to make paper flowers.
I got 3 pieces of coloured tissue paper. Then i folded the paper.

I got a pipe Cleaner ,and  wrapped it around the tissue and cut some
round edges on it  .

I am spreading the tissue paper out like  a fan

These are my finished flower
